Here are the top four free or low cost fitness apps I recommend to my clients to complement their personal training sessions.
Nike Training App (FREE)
In my opinion, the absolute best app for workouts. Tons of free workouts that can be filtered by goal, exercise type, and muscle group. Good coaching on form.
Asana Rebel ($35.99 for Annual Subsciption, or $9.99 a month).
Because of this app, I went from occasionally doing (and hating) yoga to regular practice. Turns out what I was hating was yoga class with other people, and lack of good cues/explanations for movements. The beginner workouts provided coaching on the form that I did not recieve during in-person classes. There's also guided Mediation, Healthy Recipes, and my favourite, Music for Focus.
My Fitness Pal (FREE).
My Fitness Pal is solid app for tracking nutrition, and I recommend it to all my clients. While tracking is tedious, it's an imporant part of fat loss and/or muscle development.
Whatever came with your cell phone (FREE).
Use what you've got. Your cell phone probably came pre-loaded with an Health app of some type, whether Apple or Andriod. I've tried fancier apps, but honestly, Samsung Health works just fine to log exercise and track food.
Be well,
Miranda Montgomery
